Implementation of land information systems
Sustainable tenure security depends on informed actors, reliable data, and long-term institutional capacity. Strengthening access to data, knowledge and learning opportunities enables governments, institutions, civil society and community organizations engage more effectively and equitably in land governance and policy processes.
This area of work focuses on improving transparency and accountability through stronger land tenure data and knowledge systems. Activities include the development of land observatories and data platforms, from local to global levels, to better document tenure security, as well as analytical work supporting evidence-based policy processes.
Capacity development also plays a central role. Training programmes, tools and continuous technical support strengthen the capacities of public institutions, civil society and community organizations, as well as of rights holders to engage in land governance processes and implement tenure-related reforms.
Through initiatives such as GeoTech4Tenure, tools and methodologies such as Open Tenure and participatory mapping programmes, countries and communities strengthen their ability to document land rights, manage disputes and sustain tenure security over time.

Promoting learning and knowledge sharing on governance of land tenure through inclusive and participatory approaches.

Contributing to a technical support hub and centre of excellence that disseminates technical expertise, knowledge and good practices.
