The Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia is a unique educational institution that combines the traditions of a pedagogical and a classical university. Research interests of university professors include a variety of scientific fields (humanities, social and natural sciences). The Amurian Zoological Journal (alternative title: Amurskii Zoologicheskii Zhurnal) is an open access, peer reviewed journal, which publishes papers on various aspects of zoology, with a special focus on contributions in systematics, taxonomy, and faunistics, as well as ecology and geographical distribution of agricultural pests. It has published over 300 nomenclatural acts and numerous descriptions of new taxa and ichnotaxa. It also features large taxonomic works including those with the focus on the world fauna. The contributors include many leading researchers from Russia and overseas. The contributions are submitted in either Russian or English.
