Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University was established under the name of Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) on the 12th of June, 1964. Later, it was renamed as Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University on the 7th of November, 1996. Mandate: TEACHING, RESEARCH AND EXTENSION Train the manpower in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering & Technology and Home Science for the development of state (Teaching) Constantly generate and improve technologies for increasing production in Agriculture and for the welfare of rural folk (Research)

Assist in dissemination of the improved technologies to the farmers of the state through development departments of Government (Extension)
