The Universidad Técnica de Babaoyo (UTB) is a public university located in the province of Los Ríos, with its headquarters in the city of Babahoyo. On 5 October 1971 it was officially created by decree of the then President of the Republic José María Velasco Ibarra,1 with the faculties of Agricultural Engineering, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Educational Sciences. It currently offers 19 courses in its different faculties and has three major campuses, two in the city of Babahoyo and one in the city of Quevedo.2
