The Instituto de Diagnóstico Ambiental y Estudios del Agua (IDAEA) is the leading environmental research center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Founded in 2008 and organized into two major departments (Environmental Chemistry and Geosciences), IDAEA was awarded the “Severo Ochoa” Center of Excellence distinction in 2020, highlighting the high-quality scientific leadership and global impact of the work carried out at the institute.

IDAEA is a multidisciplinary research institute focused on the scientific understanding of key environmental challenges facing society, especially those linked to water and air quality issues. Our investigation, training, and education programmes cultivate fertile ground for cross-subject innovation from local to global scales.
