The Institute of Food Science and Technology and Nutrition (ICTAN) is a Research Centre of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) based in Madrid. It was created in 2010 from the restructuring of the now defunct Institutes of Refrigeration and Industrial Fermentation.
The main objective of ICTAN is to carry out innovative and quality scientific and technological research to produce, package and conserve safe and healthy foods, that meet the current demands of society regarding sustainability and its effect on the nutrition and health of the population, establishing scientific evidence on the physiological effects of food, constituents and their by-products on health and disease prevention.
