The Ukrainian Research Institute of Forecasting and Testing of Machinery and Technologies for Agricultural Production named after Leonid Pogorily (Український науково-дослідний інститут прогнозування і випробування техніки та технологій для сільськогосподарського виробництва імені Л. Погорілого) was founded in 1948 as the Ukrainian State Zonal Machine‑Testing Station (УкрМВС), part of Soviet agricultural infrastructure.
From 1991, the institute became the national body for forecasting and testing agricultural machinery and technologies.
On December 26, 2003, it was formally named after academician Leonid Pogorilyy, a leading Ukrainian scientist in agro‑engineering.
