Training of government officials on rice mechanization in Tanzania, Côte d'Ivoire, and the Philippines
12-16 December 2022, Virtual - Government officials from two African countries, Tanzania and Côte d'Ivoire, and an Asian country, the Philippines, participated in a week-long international training session on formulating sustainable Agricultural Mechanization Strategies (AMS) and Mechanization Hire Services, relevant to rice value chains, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under the “Capacity Development and Experience sharing for Rice Value Chains through South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC)” project, funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Republic of Korea (MAFRA).

Study tour on building stronger agribusiness incubators and accelerators
5 December 2022, Dublin - A 27-member delegation from six African countries (Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe) spent five days in Ireland learning about Irish agribusiness incubation and entrepreneurial systems. Dr Janet Edeme, Head of Division for Rural Development at the African Union Commission, led the delegation from Africa, with Prof. Alex Ariho, CEO of the African Agribusiness Incubators Network (AAIN), representing the network of African incubators and accelerators.

The UNFCCC 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27), held in Sharm el-Sheik in November, was a source of great pride for FAO’s WeCaN team, as we saw so many of our members getting the chance to represent civil society and make their voices heard on the international stage.
