Rome-based UN agencies event marks UN Day for South-South Cooperation
On 16 September, the United Nations Rome-based agencies − the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), IFAD and the World Food Programme (WFP) − celebrated the 2020 UN Day for South-South Cooperation with a virtual event hosted by IFAD. The theme for the celebration was The role of South-South and Triangular Cooperation in the transformation of food systems, in view of COVID-19.

22 September 2020, Rome - FAO welcomed an announcement today by Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, that his country will support the UN agency's South-South Cooperation (SSC) efforts with an additional $50 million in funding. "We are very grateful for this new $50 million contribution announced by President Xi, as it provides a strong boost to the work of the FAO-China South-South Cooperation Programme," FAO Director-General QU Dongyu said.
