Objectives

The meeting follows the provisions of the Commission's statutes concerning the holding of biennial regular sessions. Its objectives are to report on the measures taken in response to the agreements of the previous meeting; to collectively reflect on issues related to sustainability and the contribution of fisheries and aquaculture to food security, the reduction of rural poverty, and the responsible and harmonious management of natural resources, in line with the needs of the Commission's member countries, the regional priorities of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda.
