Effective Science Communication in Agrifood Systems

Virtual Event, 11/07/2024

Purpose and context of the event

As part of the 2024 Science and Innovation Forum (SIF 2024) organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), this regional event aims to showcase the role of scientific communication in facilitating economic, social, and environmental development in Latin America and the Caribbean. By promoting engaging dialogue, this event seeks to highlight the transformative power of effective scientific communication in agrifood systems.

The Scientific Communication in Agrifood Systems self-paced course, which is being launched alongside this event, addresses FAO’s Science and Innovation Strategy by training in communication skills and promoting collaboration and participatory knowledge exchange in the agrifood sector. The FAO RLC Innovation Office has developed the Scientific Communication in Agrifood Systems e-learning course as a concrete and strategic initiative to respond to FAO’s strategic priorities.

This initiative not only supports innovation and problem-solving but also emphasizes inclusivity and horizontal transfer of knowledge, inspiring action and engagement in science communication within the agrifood system.

We invite to this event Students, researchers, extensionists and decision-makers from the agrifood ecosystem interested in expanding their knowledge about scientific communication in agri-food systems, which plays a crucial role in the generation and dissemination of knowledge, the promotion of innovation, problem solving and continuing education in this field, so important for society.
