Hybrid Event, 28/11/2024

Live broadcast
Background

The project "South-South Cooperation: Digital Transformation and Innovation in Agriculture," driven by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the People's Republic of China, began its implementation in 2022 with the goal of supporting the recovery of rural livelihoods affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and contributing to the digital transformation process in countries that are part of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

The project has worked with 12 countries in the region: Barbados, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay. In each country, digital initiatives have been developed to support rural inhabitants engaged in family farming and to advance toward an inclusive rural transformation.

After three years of work, the project is preparing to present the valuable achievements made, where countries have highlighted the importance of collaborative work to develop initiatives of this kind for rural development and the improvement of people's quality of life.

The event will take place on Thursday, November 28th, at 10:00 AM (GMT-3)

Event Objective

To present the achievements of the implementation of the project "South-South Cooperation: Digital Transformation and Innovation in Agriculture", highlighting how the digital initiatives developed in each country have supported decision-making processes in production, the inclusion of youth and women, and the strengthening of rural communities and associations involved.
