Hybrid Event, 26/11/2019

The Closure Meeting of the ‘Strengthening Agricultural Infrastructure Services with the context of Global Soil Partnership’ project which is jointly implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations will take place in Ankara on 26 November 2019.

The implementation of the project started in March 2018 and a series of workshops and trainings were organized as well as technical assistance was provided which helped to reveal the overview and the status of soil management and soil information system structure in Turkey.

As a result of these efforts, the ‘National Action Plan for Sustainable Soil Management’ (NAP) was developed as a strategy and policy development document.

This national action plan has been developed to ensure current and future sustainable use of soils in Turkey together with all national stakeholders engaged in planning, management and monitoring of soils.
Considering the global importance of agriculture and food security, the NAP aims to introduce and implement the principles and practices for sustainable soil management at the national scale within the framework of the “Revised World Soil Charter” by raising awareness.
