FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia

Political and economic transition has had a profound impact on the agroecological systems and societies of Europe and Central Asia.

Here, FAO works with Members and partners for the eradication of food insecurity, malnutrition and rural poverty, for sustainable management of natural resources, and to ensure that agriculture contributes its full potential to national economies.

With these needs in mind, Member Governments have agreed to prioritize actions under three Regional Priority Programmes.

In the Europe and Central Asia region, FAO is helping countries build a world without hunger and malnutrition, where farmers and rural communities thrive. Reacting to the needs on the ground, FAO’s support through 2027 focuses on three connected priorities: facilitating inclusive rural transformation; shaping food environments and markets for healthy diets; and improving natural resources management, environmental protection and climate resilience.
