Do Good: Save Food! Educating future generations for a zero food waste world
Hybrid Event, 21/02/2019
With the EU’s commitment to implement the Sustainable development Goals (SDGs), food waste prevention was identified as one of the priority areas. European Parliament adopted a resolution on the “Initiative on resource efficiency: reducing food waste and improving food safety”, which underlines the need to reduce the amount of food waste through a coordinated policy response, including the support of consumer information and education programs.
In this regard, a roundtable is assembled under the auspices of the European Parliamentary Alliance on the Fight against Hunger and the European Parliament (EP) Intergroup on Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development, to raise awareness on the importance and the transformative potential of education of children in the area of food waste prevention and reduction.
The education package “Do good: Save food!”, developed by FAO together with the International Food Waste Coalition (IFWC) and a strategy for its dissemination in Europe and Central Asia will be presented at the roundtable.
