Regional Inception Workshop, “Leaving No One Behind: Greater Involvement and Empowerment of Rural Women in Türkiye and Central Asia” project

FAO, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye, is organizing the first regional workshop for the “Leaving No One Behind: Greater Involvement and Empowerment of Rural Women in Türkiye and Central Asia Project”, under the FAO-Türki̇ye Partnership Programme on Food and Agriculture (FTPP II), on 3 August 2022 in Ankara.

The workshop will bring together related project and technical personnel from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye and FAO, and representatives from the ministries of agriculture of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, and will serve as a platform for exchanging views, and sharing best practices and lessons learned from field visits under the project.

“Leaving No One Behind: Greater Involvement and Empowerment of Rural Women in Türkiye and Central Asia Project” is funded by the Government of Türkiye, and will be implemented in Türkiye, with pilot activities in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The overall objective of the project is to reduce rural poverty; empower rural communities and organizations to access productive resources, services and markets; and to provide policy support, capacity development and knowledge generation in order to accelerate gender equality and rural women’s economic empowerment.

The project aims to improve the socio-economic status of rural women by supporting agricultural and forestry policies and programmes and by creating sustainable economic opportunities at grassroots level in the beneficiary countries.

The project, furthermore, aims to improve rural women’s access to economic opportunities, and thus, improve their livelihoods as well as the livelihoods of their families.
