Seventh Meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of Central Asia

The 7th Meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of Central Asia will be held during the international conference “Cooperation on food security in the context of climate change,” in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Delegates will engage on the impacts of climate change on agriculture, agrifood systems, the environment, climate financing, and livelihoods.

The meeting will present FAO’s work on climate change mitigation and on building smallholder resiliency to climate-related shock events. Technical experts from FAO will highlight the Organization’s work on water scarcity and desertification in the region, as well as on conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems. Ministers of Agriculture will present statements on climate change in their countries, along with the national policies, and work to combat climate change by mitigation and adaptation. Panel discussions and statements will address the nexus between climate change, socioeconomic development, and food security; the meeting seeks to strengthen cooperation for climate action in the region.
