FAO and the World Health Organization (WHO) celebrate World Food Safety Day on 7 June to highlight the importance of food standards in saving lives. When food chain actors comply with food standards,  foodborne diseases are reduced, fair trade is ensured, and food security is strengthened. 2023 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the FAO–WHO Codex Alimentarius Commission. The Codex Alimentarius Commission is the guardian of food standards that define the path to safe food – for everyone everywhere.

In addition to the worldwide events on World Food Safety Day, for Europe and Central Asia, FAO and WHO-EURO are organizing the webinar “One Health and food safety.” The webinar will foster a dynamic discussion among all relevant actors, and explore the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health under the One Health approach and how this relationship is crucial to reducing food safety risks. The event will feature expert speakers and scientists, as well as representatives of national institutions from Europe and Central Asia.

Join us at 11:00 - 12:15 CEST on 28 June 2023!

Participation in the event is possible via Zoom in English and Russian languages.
