Samoa celebrates first World Food Safety Day

06/06/2019

As Europe goes to bed and the Americas think about finishing work for the day, in Samoa it is already the first #WorldFoodSafetyDay.

As part of this celebration, FAO is highlighting its work in Samoa with partners in promoting food safety.

This week, FAO and the Samoa Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour are launching a Technical Cooperation Programme project. The objective of the project is to address the technical capacity challenges facing the Samoa National Codex Committee and relevant stakeholders. The expected impact is improved food control contributing to increased access to healthy and safe agriculture products and nutritious food in Samoa, while the expected outcome is strengthened capacity and expertise of Samoa National Codex Committee members and relevant stakeholders to implement the National Codex Strategic Plan. The $60,000 USD project is expected to be concluded by February 2020.
