Women's employment in the banana industry

In the banana industry, women tend to be more represented in smaller scale production for domestic and regional markets while men tend to be more present in large scale production for international export markets. The World Banana Forum Working Group on Gender Equity launched a study in 2014 to investigate and analyse women’s employment in the banana export industry in Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa. 3 pp.
Gender assessment of dairy value chains: evidence from Ethiopia

Findings from this gender assessment of the dairy value chain in selected sites in Ethiopia confirm that women’s empowerment is vital for sustainable dairy value chain development and that projects supporting dairy production need to increase their efforts to be gender inclusive. The study provides country-specific recommendations for Ethiopia, which also feed into a more general knowledge base on how to develop gender-sensitive dairy value chains. 80 pp.
