The GFCM works with countries on multiple research activities to address specific needs for the management of key fisheries and the conservation of vulnerable species and ecosystems 

Some stocks under management plans established by the GFCM show a larger than average reduction in fishing pressure. Notable examples include a 77 percent reduction for common sole in the Adriatic Sea, and a 73 percent reduction for turbot in the Black Sea

MedSea4Fish provides resources, training and technical assistance where they’re most needed. In doing so it helps to level the playing field across the Mediterranean Sea on knowledge, expertise and infrastructure.  

They act as specialized hubs where the sector can share knowledge, promote technical cooperation and increase stakeholder capacity at a subregional level, to promote sustainable aquaculture in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
