This 2022 edition of The State of Mediterranean and Black Sea Fisheries updates the findings from previous editions and, for the first time, trends in the fisheries sector are also analysed at the regional level. 

The report shows that the overexploitation of stocks has decreased over the past decade, with an accelerated reduction of fishing pressure in 2020 and 2021, particularly for key species under management plans. However, 73 percent of commercial species are still overexploited, and fishing pressure is still double what is considered sustainable.
