Prioritizing solutions: country examples

There is no silver bullet solution to halting deforestation and neither is there a single path for prioritizing those solutions that are shortlisted for implementation. As the design and implementation of deforestation solutions is highly context-specific, countries have taken different approaches to the process of prioritizing solutions, including by developing unique sets of criteria to assess solutions’ suitability.

On this page, FAO is developing an overview of some of the approaches countries have taken to prioritize their deforestation solutions. This will serve as a valuable reference point, an opportunity for South-South and triangular learning and inspiration for stakeholders wishing to design and prioritize deforestation solutions.
