General situation during August 2026 Forecast for September 2026
The locust control campaign was successfully completed in all Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA) countries, resulting in a calm situation for all locust species across all affected areas at the end of the reporting period. The lifecycle of the Moroccan locust (DMA) was completed in the Caucasus, while the lifecycles of the Italian locust (CIT) and Asian migratory locust (LMI) reached their final stages; the natural die off process is expected to continue during September. While control operations had already been completed in all Central Asia (CA) countries at the end of July, they were concluded in August in the Caucasus and the Russian Federation, with over 17 016 hectares (ha) treated that month.

General Situation during August 2021 Forecast for September 2021 Italian (CIT) and Asian Migratory (LMI) Locusts finished mating and egg-laying in most countries and started to die-off. The situation in August became calm for all species in most countries. A cautious situation with CIT still remains in Georgia. During the forecast period, CIT and LMI natural life cycles will come to an end. Control operations in August covered an area of 24 633 hectares (ha) in CCA.

General Situation during July 2021 Forecast for August 2021 Moroccan Locust (DMA) natural cycle completed in all Caucasus and Central Asian (CCA) countries, while mating and egg-laying continued in Russian Federation. Italian (CIT) and Asian Migratory Locust (LMI) started mating and egg-laying in most countries. General Situation during June 2021 Forecast for July 2021 Moroccan Locust (DMA) fledging, mating and egg laying continued in Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA) except for the southern regions of Central Asia (CA) where its lifecycle came to an end. Italian Locust (CIT) fledging started in Georgia and in CA countries. Migratory Locust (LMI) hopper development continued in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russian Federation and Uzbekistan.
