General situation during July 2026
Moroccan Locust (DMA) natural cycle has been completed in all remaining parts of Central Asian (CA) countries at the end of the reporting period. In Azerbaijan, Georgia and the Russian Federation, DMA mating and egg-laying started. Italian Locust (CIT) die off occurred in southern Central Asia, with mating and egg-laying progressing in other parts. Fledging began in Caucasus and the Russian Federation. Asian Migratory Locust (LMI) fledging and mating started in Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. Summer surveys of hoppers and adults (on egg-laying sites) continued in most countries. In July, control operations covered 682 762 hectares (ha) in all Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA) countries.

Italian (CIT) and Asian Migratory Locust (LMI) started mating and egg-laying in most countries. General Situation during June 2021 Forecast for July 2021 Moroccan Locust (DMA) fledging, mating and egg laying continued in Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA) except for the southern regions of Central Asia (CA) where its lifecycle came to an end. Italian Locust (CIT) fledging started in Georgia and in CA countries. Migratory Locust (LMI) hopper development continued in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russian Federation and Uzbekistan.

General Situation during May 2021 Forecast for June 2021 Moroccan Locust (DMA) fledging, mating and egg-laying started in southern parts of Central Asia, where also swarm flights were reported, especially in areas near state borders. DMA hopper development continued in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russian Federation; in Georgia fledging already started by the end of May. Italian Locust (CIT) hatching and hopper development continued in Georgia and in Central Asian (CA) countries.
