General situation during July 2026
Moroccan Locust (DMA) natural cycle has been completed in all remaining parts of Central Asian (CA) countries at the end of the reporting period. In Azerbaijan, Georgia and the Russian Federation, DMA mating and egg-laying started. Italian Locust (CIT) die off occurred in southern Central Asia, with mating and egg-laying progressing in other parts. Fledging began in Caucasus and the Russian Federation. Asian Migratory Locust (LMI) fledging and mating started in Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. Summer surveys of hoppers and adults (on egg-laying sites) continued in most countries. In July, control operations covered 682 762 hectares (ha) in all Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA) countries.

General Situation during May 2022 Forecast for June 2022 Moroccan Locust (DMA) fledging, mating and egg laying started in southern parts of Central Asia. DMA hopper development continued in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russian Federation. Italian Locust (CIT) hatching and hopper development continued in Georgia and in Central Asian (CA) countries. Migratory Locust (LMI) hatching started in Kazakhstan, Russian Federation and Uzbekistan.

General situation during July 2019 Forecast until mid-September 2019 Hot and dry weather accelerated die-off of the Moroccan Locust (DMA) everywhere, with some limited swarm flights still occurring in Tajikistan. Italian Locust (CIT) and Migratory Locust (LMI) hopper development completed, followed by mating and egg-laying. General Situation during August 2017 and Forecast until mid-October 2017 Warm temperatures prevailed everywhere although the weather was variable and rains fell locally in Central Asia; conditions were globally suitable for locust breeding. Moroccan Locust (DMA) breeding continued in Kazakhstan and Russia while its life cycle was completed in Azerbaijan (and already last month in the other countries).
