General situation during June 2026
Moroccan Locust (DMA) lifecycle completed in the southern parts of Central Asia (CA); fledging, mating and egg-laying continued in other parts, as well as in the Caucasus and the Russian Federation. Italian Locust (CIT) fledging started in southern CA while hatching and hopper development continued in other parts of CA, Caucasus and the Russian Federation. Migratory Locust (LMI) hatching and hopper development continued in Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. In July, DMA lifecycle will come to an end everywhere, and CIT natural die off will start in CA. In Caucasus, the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan, CIT will start fledging and mating. LMI hopper development will continue in the northern and western regions of Kazakhstan and in the Russian Federation.

General Situation during May 2017 and Forecast until mid-July 2017 Weather conditions, which were unsuitable for locusts in early spring, continued to locally delay or hamper their development but recent warming up of temperatures boosted Moroccan Locust (DMA) adult appearance. As a result, DMA fledging started in probably all Central Asian (CA) countries as well as in Azerbaijan and egg-laying was reported in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

General Situation during March 2017 and Forecast until mid-May 2017 Moroccan Locust (DMA) hatching is starting slowly in southern Central Asian countries, namely Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as a consequence of prolonged cool temperatures and rains. During the forecast period, DMA hatching followed by hopper development will generalize in that four countries.

General Situation during August 2016 Forecast until mid-October 2016 Moroccan Locust (DMA) egg-laying continued or was coming to an end in northern Central Asian (CA) countries and in Azerbaijan. Italian Locust (CIT) fledging continued in Armenia and Russia while egg-laying was in progress in Tajikistan and Kazakhstan and came to an end in Georgia. Asian Migratory Locust (LMI) mating and egg-laying started in Kazakhstan, while fledging continued until mid-August in Russia.
