Paramaribo, Suriname, 18 October 2022- Ministerial stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to the achievement of a sustainable school feeding programme in Suriname during a workshop conducted on 12 October with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Government of Mexico.

Port-of-Spain, 14 October 2022- saw the official launch of the “Grow to Glow” school garden competition across Trinidad and Tobago.  The competition runs until March 2023 and is open to all the 4-H clubs. It seeks to promote wider nutrition education for children and eating local produce which runs until March 2023.

Santiago, September 30. This Thursday the Steering Committee of the CELAC-FAO-China Cooperation presented the project plan “Response and recovery to the impact of COVID-19 on rural livelihoods and food systems. The initiative, which was signed in January between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Government of the People's Republic of China, has a budget of USD 2 million and will benefit the 12 member countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in the recovery of rural livelihoods and post-pandemic agri-food systems.

Agriculture and rural development are critical for ensuring food security and eradicating poverty. In this context, farmers’ livelihoods largely depend on agricultural activities, making them highly vulnerable to current challenges affecting agriculture, including climate change and loss of biodiversity. Enhancing the capacities of farmers to adopt innovative approaches to boost agricultural productivity and cope with limited resources is essential to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG1 on eradicating extreme poverty and SDG2 on ending hunger and promoting sustainable agriculture.

The partners of the Brazil-FAO International Cooperation Programme, which will complete 15 years in 2023, discussed the priorities of the joint work for the next five years.
Santiago de Chile, September 24, 2022 – With the aim of defining strategic priorities for the next five years, improving shared governance mechanisms and analyzing the current implementation of projects, representatives of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( ABC/MRE), the cooperating Brazilian institutions and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) met, from September 12 to 14, in Santiago, Chile, for the 3rd Meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Brazil-FAO International Cooperation Programme.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the University of Freiburg (ALU-FR) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), through 2025, to continue to collaborate on areas of common interest focusing on strengthening sustainable forestry, natural resources management and rural development in Central Asia.
