Signature ceremony of PPP Agreement under TCP/ARM/3504 - Alternative Utilization of Water Resources in Armenia

Recirculation systems have not yet been introduced in Armenia, farmers and ministry officials have little or no knowledge of them. At present farmers are reluctant to rebuild or transform their production systems through recirculation technology. For this reason the Government of Armenia requested FAO to assist in the re-establishment of a traditional production system into a model farm operating with the new technology.
As major impact, overexploitation of underground water resources resulting from the rapid development of fish production will be significantly reduced while the quantity and the quality of fish produced previously will be maintained.
