The future of family farming in Europe in the context of launching the ”UN Decade on Family Farming (2019-2028)

Under the Romanian Presidency of the European Council, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Romania together with FAO is organizing a Conference on the future of family farming in Europe in context of the UN Decade on Family Farming (2019-2028). The Conference will take place in Bucharest on 12 March 2019 and will include panel discussions with the participation of experts from the region, including FAO specialists. The discussion will draw attention to the needs and constraints of family farmers and smallholders, as well as to create an enabling environment for them through developing, improving and implementing coherent public policies and investment programs, in parallel contributing to the achievement of the SDGs.

The Decade will be officially launched during a high-level event on 29 May 2019 at FAO Headquarters in Rome.
