لجنة تنسيق الدستور الغذائي لأفريقيا - المنسق الإقليمي لأوغندا
تم إنشاء "لجنة التنسيق لهيئة الدستور الغذائي في أفريقيا" من قبل هيئة الدستور الغذائي في عام 1972 بهدف "ممارسة التنسيق العام في إعداد المواصفات المتعلقة بمنطقة إفريقيا". وعقدت اللجنة اجتماعها الأول في منظمة الأغذية والزراعة في عام 1974 بحضور 19 دولة.
ومع بدء فترة عمل المنسق الإقليمي الجديد، عزز اتفاق منطقة التجارة الحرة القارية الأفريقية (AfCFTA)، والذي دخل حيز التنفيذ في أيار/ مايو 2020، من الحاجة إلى نظام يتسم بالكفاءة والفعالية لإدارة تدابير الصحة والصحة النباتية، ولا سيما بالنسبة سلامة الأغذية، عبر القارة في الوقت الذي تفتح فيه حدودها للتجارة.
ويقع مقر المنسق الإقليمي في المكتب الوطني للمواصفات في أوغندا، وهو هيئة قانونية تابعة لوزارة التجارة والصناعة والتعاونيات تشرف على تعزيز واستخدام المواصفات كجزء من تفويضها.
وتعتزم أوغندا، كمنسق إقليمي، المشاركة بشكل وثيق مع البلدان من خلال المسوحات والندوات عبر الإنترنت وورش العمل لتحديد الاحتياجات والقضايا الناشئة، وخلق الوعي بقضايا سلامة الأغذية ذات الأولوية ومواصفات الدستور الغذائي. كما ستقوم دراسة تجريبية باستكشاف وضع سلامة الأغذية من ناحية أوسع في جميع أنحاء المنطقة. ومن خلال تعزيز المشاركة مع الهيئات الإقليمية مثل الاتحاد الأفر والمنظمة الأفريقية لتوحيد المواصفات وأمانة منطقة التجارة الحرة القارية الأفريقية، تهدف أوغندا أيضا إلى تعزيز أعمال المناصرة في المنطقة.

World Food Safety Day / Celebrations planned for the African region
A regional webinar commemorating World Food Safety Day 2026 is jointly organized by FAO, WHO, the World Food Programme (WFP), the African Union Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) and the FAO/WHO Coordinating Committee for Africa (CCAFRICA).
The webinar, themed “Building Africa’s Food Safety Future: From Evidence to Action,” is scheduled to take place virtually on 11 June 2026 and aims to promote awareness and dialogue on the burden of foodborne diseases and practical actions to strengthen food safety systems across Africa.

World Food Safety Day / Food company employees in Guinea celebrate with various activities
The employees of Agro Food Industrie (AFI) and Compagnie des Boissons d’Afrique (CBA), subsidiaries of the SONOCO Group based in the Republic of Guinea mobilized around the global theme "From Burden to Solutions: Universal Access to Safe Food," through several awareness-raising activities and the promotion of a culture of quality and food safety.

World Food Safety Day / Cameroon promotes food safety through community action
To celebrate World Food Safety Day 2026, the Association for the Fight Against Food Unsanitariness in Cameroon (ALIAC) organized a series of awareness-raising activities in Douala under the theme "Food Safety: Science in Action – From Burden to Solutions: Safe Food for All."

World Food Safety Day / Food safety awareness promoted in Democratic Republic of the Congo
The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), through its Occupational Safety and Health Unit, promotes food safety awareness among military contingents (blue helmets) and civilian personnel in celebration of World Food Safety Day 2026. The East African Community is leading the way on gum arabic standard setting
With the support of the European Union-funded Market Access Upgrade Programme Phase II (MARKUP II), which is implemented through the International Trade Centre (ITC), the East African Community (EAC) partner states under the technical committee (TC) on food additives has met in Juba, South Sudan, to develop regional standards for gum arabic. CCAFRICA Coordination officially handed over in Banjul, The Gambia
The FAO/WHO Coordinating Committee for Africa (CCAFRICA) celebrated a significant milestone on 26 January 2026, with the official handover ceremony of the CCAFRICA Coordinator from Uganda to The Gambia.
