To meet the targets of the Regional Plan of Action for Small-scale Fisheries in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea (RPOA-SSF), stronger synergies among stakeholders are needed to scale up best practices, promote cooperation and identify investment gaps.
This interactive SSF mapping tool promotes awareness and builds synergies among past, present and future projects on SSF being carried out in the field in the region, while monitoring the implementation of the RPOA-SSF, as each project is associated with the relevant RPOA-SSF thematic section.
Type and sources of data
The mapping tool compiles information on projects related to small-scale fisheries across the Mediterranean and Black Sea. The data collected include, among others, project objectives, areas of intervention in the sector of SSF, geographical coverage, implementation period, partners involved and links with the RPOA-SSF. The information is provided directly by project implementers, institutions and stakeholders through the dedicated submission form (link below), and may be complemented by information gathered by the GFCM Secretariat.

The geographical scope corresponds to the GFCM area of application, covering the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
Contributions
As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination, visibility and knowledge-sharing on small-scale fisheries across the Mediterranean and Black Sea, the SSF mapping tool serves as a regional platform to showcase relevant initiatives and projects.
The SSF mapping tool is most valuable when it is as comprehensive and up-to-date as possible. Mediterranean and Black Sea stakeholders involved in SSF are therefore encouraged to contribute to the tool by sharing information on past, ongoing or future projects addressing SSF, towards strengthening the visibility of initiatives and synergies among actors across the region.
