The sourcebook comes with an annex publication with 6 in-depth case studies in six cities around the world: Quito (Ecuador), Leuven (Belgium), Dakar (Senegal), Arusha (Tanzania), Surakarta (Indonesia) and Tegucigalpa (Honduras). The case studies cover UPA policies, challenges, and practices under themes like land, water, labor, finance, agronomy, value chain, and governance. A comparative analysis provides generalizable lessons and recommendations for planners and policymakers.

The project entitled “Catalyzing the efficiency and sustainability of Azerbaijan’s hazelnut sector” (HAZER) is implemented under the FAO-Azerbaijan Partnership Programme (FAPP) by the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with an objective of empowering smallholder farmers to adopt Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to improve the production efficiency of hazelnut.
