Self-evaluation and Holistic Assessment of Climate Resilience of Farmers and Pastoralist (SHARP+)

Fishing

This module investigates fishing practices within the household, including the environments where fishing takes place, seasonal patterns, and perceived changes in catch levels and species diversity. It also explores how fish stocks are managed and whether practices are sustainable.

Contribution to resilience

Fishing contributes to household resilience by diversifying sources of food and income and by providing an important safety net during periods of agricultural stress or market instability. Resilient fishing practices are assessed through reported trends in fish catches, changes in fish species diversity, and the adoption of sustainable fishing practices, which together indicate both the sustainability of fishing activities and their contribution to long-term resilience.
