Inception workshop within the Sustainable fish value chains for landlocked developing countries project
Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), 29/05/2026
Project funded by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea aims to enhance fisheries and aquaculture value chains in selected landlocked developing countries, including the Kyrgyz Republic and Zambia. In the Kyrgyz Republic, the project focuses on the rainbow trout and carp value chains, which were identified during the January 2026 scoping mission as the two priority chains for analysis and intervention.
The inception workshop, to be held on 29 May, will mark the culmination of the field mission under the Sustainable fish value chains for landlocked developing countries project. The workshop will bring together key national stakeholders to present, discuss, and validate the initial findings of the value chain analysis for trout and carp.
The session will provide a platform to identify and agree on priority interventions, review emerging upgrading strategies, and discuss next steps for implementation. Building on insights gathered during the mission, which is taking place from 11 to 22 May, the workshop will also support the validation of findings with stakeholders, the incorporation of additional perspectives through targeted discussions, and the initiation of implementation planning in coordination with relevant partners. The event will serve as a critical milestone to ensure alignment, ownership, and a shared roadmap for strengthening sustainable fish value chains moving forward.
