Brussels/Geneva/New York/Rome - The FAO Liaison Offices in New York, Brussels and Geneva together with FAO’s Office of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environment and the Division of Land and Water held a briefing on the upcoming Rio Convention’s ‘triple Conferences of the Parties’in 2024. The briefing, moderated by Dominique Burgeon, Director of the FAO Liaison Office in Geneva, was an opportunity to showcase how agrifood systems can tackle the multiple interlinked challenges, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, land degradation, food insecurity and poverty.

Rome – In a historic audience at the Quirinale Palace today, FAO Director-General QU Dongyu, alongside Italian President Sergio Mattarella, announced the creation of the FAO Food and Agriculture Museum and Network in Rome. Together, they unveiled the official logo for the museum, which will be inaugurated next year to mark FAO's 80th anniversary, symbolizing a new chapter in the longstanding partnership between FAO and Italy.

Amid the alarming global spread of the H5N1 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) and its evolution in wild birds and mammals, a special episode of the One Health Dialogue Series brought together key stakeholders to discuss avian influenza preparedness and response strategies. The webinar brought together participants from Permanent Missions, UN agencies, NGOs and academic institutions, and provided an opportunity to share the latest scientific findings and knowledge and highlight the contributions of FAO and its partners in the global pandemic risk reduction efforts.
