CAADP Nutrition Southern Africa
The third CAADP Nutrition Capacity Development workshop, for Southern Africa, was held in September 9th to 13th, 2013, in Gaborone, Botswana.
The target audience for each country consisted of individuals from the agricultural and nutrition-related sectors, representing government, civil society, private sector, and development partners. Selection of participants as well as country technical preparation started in early 2013, with the support of Regional Economic Communities (COMESA, ECSA, SADC, ECCAS) and development partners.
The outputs of the workshop at country level include:
1. Nutrition Country Papers summarizing information and providing an analysis on the nutritional status as well as on the key policies, actions and coordination mechanisms in place of each country.
2. Case studies identified by countries on linking agriculture and nutrition, presented during the plenary sessions.
3. Country-specific roadmaps based on a guidance check list, outlining how countries will address their nutrition gaps and how they will move forward with developing, strengthening and/or implementing priority program areas that add value to the CAADP Compacts and IPs.
