23/11/2009-- Final geopolitical ontology and new web services now available

The final version of the geopolitical ontology 1.0 has just been released at the geopolitical information page of the FAO Country Profiles. This new version includes additional data at country level, such as, currency names and codes, adjectives of nationality, the DBPedia/Wikipedia ID, and basic statistical data, such as land area, population or Gross domestic product (GDP).

The new geopolitical ontology web services retrieve specific data from the geopolitical ontology and return it in XML format. These new web services facilitate country-based information exchange, integration and re-use by information systems.

Check the web services page for a detailed description.
