Following the intense Desert Locust activity recorded in Morocco since the beginning of 2026 and the risk of its spread towards the Sahelian countries, CLCPRO convened its eleven member countries in Nouakchott (Mauritania) from 6 to 9 July 2026 to assess the evolving situation and forge a coordinated action plan for the 2026 summer campaign, a critical response to one of the most challenging locust seasons the region has faced in recent years.

As part of its efforts to promote sustainable control methods, CLCPRO organized in Mauritania, from 5 to 14 November 2025, a regional training on the operational use of the biopesticide (Metarhizium acridum). Dedicated to environmental focal points, this training strengthened practical skills in preparation, application, and monitoring, marking an important step in integrating biopesticides into regional preventive strategies.
