Rome, The Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO) is participating in the Thirty-fourth Session of the FAO Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in South-West Asia (SWAC34), held at FAO Headquarters in Rome. This session brings together India, Iran, Pakistan, and FAO experts from Afghanistan, united around a common objective: strengthening regional desert locust management, advancing technological innovation, and reinforcing national preventive capacities.

Nouakchott (Mauritania), 24 November 2025 - In a concrete gesture of regional solidarity, the Kingdom of Morocco today handed over to the National Anti-Locust Control Centre (CNLA) a donation of 100,000 liters of Deltamethrin 1.25%, under the coordination of the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO). The operation is part of a collective mobilization aimed at supporting Mauritania in facing the locust upsurge observed since September 2025.

Ouagadougou, 13 November 2025 – As part of his official mission to Burkina Faso, the Executive Secretary of the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO) was received in an audience by His Excellency Dr. Aboubacar Nacanabo, Minister of Economy, Finance and Foresight.

Nouakchott (Mauritania), 5 November 2025 – The  Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO), in collaboration with the National Anti-Locust Center (CNLA) of Mauritania, launched this Wednesday the regional training on the operational use of the biopesticide Novacrid® (Metarhizium acridum).

Algiers, Algeria - 26 October 2025 - As part of the strategic partnership between the Desert Locust Control Commission in the Western Region (CLCPRO) and the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL), a practical training session dedicated to the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and navigation tools is being held from 26 to 30 October 2025 at ASAL’s Center for Space Applications (CAS).

Algiers, 20 October 2025 - As part of strengthening cooperation between Regional Desert Locust Control Commissions, a high-level delegation from the Desert Locust Control Commission in the Central Region (CRC) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of the Arab Republic of Egypt carried out an official visit to the Executive Secretariat of CLCPRO headquarters in Algiers, from 19 to 23 October 2025.

Rome, Italy – 15 October 2025 – On the occasion of the FAO Global Technical Recognition Ceremony held at FAO headquarters in Rome, the Desert Locust Control Commission in the Western Region (CLCPRO) was honored in the category “Champion Institutions of South-South and Triangular Cooperation.”

Nouakchott, Mauritania, 12 October 2025 - In response to the recent developments in the locust situation in Mauritania, the Desert Locust Control Commission in the Western Region (CLCPRO), in collaboration with the National Anti-Locust Center (CNLA), organized a technical assessment mission aimed at strengthening prevention and regional coordination.

Agadir (Morocco), 6 October 2025 - The  Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO), in collaboration with the National Anti-Locust Center of Morocco (CNLAA), is organizing from 6 to 10 October 2025 a regional workshop on the management and maintenance of equipment for National Anti-Locust Units (UNLA). This session is part of the Regional Training Plan V (2023–2026) and aims to strengthen the logistical capacities of CLCPRO member countries.
