Mauritania - In response to the recent developments in the locust situation in Mauritania, the Desert Locust Control Commission in the Western Region (CLCPRO), in collaboration with the National Anti-Locust Center (CNLA), organized a technical assessment mission aimed at strengthening prevention and regional coordination.

Agadir - The  Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO), in collaboration with the National Anti-Locust Center of Morocco (CNLAA), is organizing from 6 to 10 October 2025 a regional workshop on the management and maintenance of equipment for National Anti-Locust Units (UNLA). This session is part of the Regional Training Plan V (2023–2026) and aims to strengthen the logistical capacities of CLCPRO member countries.

Nouakchott (Mauritania) - The Executive Secretary of the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO), Dr. Mohamed Lemine Hamouny, was received in an audience by His Excellency Mr. Sid Ahmed Ould Bouh, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

Aïoun El Atrouss, Mauritania - The Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO), in collaboration with the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Central Region (CRC) and Mauritania’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, represented by the National Locust Control Center (CNLA), is organizing a field training course for students of the Master’s program in Locust Management Science.

Salalah, (Oman) - The Executive Secretariat of the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO) is taking part in the interregional workshop on “Preparedness and Planning for Response to Desert Locust Outbreaks,” held in Salalah, Sultanate of Oman, from 7 to 11 September 2025. The event is organized by the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Central Region (CRC) of FAO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources of Oman, and with the support of FAO.

Dakar (Senegal) - The Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO), in collaboration with the Plant Protection Directorate of Senegal, is organizing a regional workshop on locust information management from August 4 to 8, 2025. This session is part of the CLCPRO's 2025 Action Plan and Regional Training Plan V (2023-2026), adopted by member countries.

Nouakchott (Mauritania) - The Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO) holds a regional meeting of the directors-general of the eleven member countries on the locust outbreak in the region to discuss the status of implementation of the action plan developed in May 2025 in Tunis and update it for the period August-October 2025.

Agadir (Morocco) - The first cohort of the Master’s programme in Acridology, initiated by FAO in partnership with the Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute (IAV) of Agadir, for the benefit of the member countries of the Commissions for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO) and Central Region (CRC), celebrated the completion of its training cycle during an official ceremony marking a major milestone in strengthening preventive control against the Desert Locust.

N’Djamena (Chad) - The Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO) organized on Wednesday, 9 July, in N’Djamena (Chad), an official ceremony for the handover of off-road vehicles to the National Agency for Locust Control of Chad and the National Locust Control Centre of Niger.

Agadir (Morocco)- As part of the joint Master's program in locust management sciences (2023–2027), the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO), in collaboration with the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Central Region (CRC), the FAO's Transboundary Plant Pests and Diseases Control Team (NSPMD), and the Agadir Horticultural Complex (CHA) of the Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute, organized an international workshop on the theme: « Innovative technologies for sustainable management of the desert locust ».
