Comité Coordinador Regional del Codex para Asia (CCASIA) - Coordinador regional: China
El Comité Coordinador para Asia se creó en el 11.º período de sesiones de la Comisión del Codex Alimentarius celebrado en Roma (Italia), en julio de 1976. Su primera reunión se celebró en Nueva Delhi (India) en enero de 1977.
El coordinador regional opera desde el Centro Nacional de China para la Evaluación de Riesgos de Inocuidad de los Alimentos.
Las principales prioridades de China como coordinador son aumentar la participación en las reuniones del Codex, apoyar la priorización del trabajo del Codex en la región, mejorar la armonización de las normas de inocuidad de los alimentos y acelerar la revitalización del comité coordinador compartiendo información y comunicando periódicamente novedades sobre cuestiones relativas a la inocuidad alimentaria en la región.
China desea asimismo promover la colaboración con las organizaciones observadoras y favorecer una comunicación eficiente y eficaz entre los miembros regionales de la FAO, la OMS y la Secretaría del Codex.

AMR Codex Texts (ACT) project in Mongolia: Discussions with veterinarians and coverage on TV
The AMR Codex Texts (ACT) project “Implementation of Codex standards to support containment and reduction of foodborne antimicrobial resistance” was recently presented in two regional meetings of the Mongolian Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) on August 2-3 and August 6-7, 2022. These two conferences were organized by the MVMA branch councils of the Bayankhongor and Zavkhan provinces in cooperation with the Department of Veterinary Services and the FAO office in Mongolia.

Codex Trust Fund / Project in Timor-Leste launches with orientation workshop
The World Health Organization (WHO) supported Timor-Leste in their application to the FAO/WHO Codex Trust Fund Project. The application was approved in 2021 and a Codex orientation workshop was planned as part of the project. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and WHO facilitated this workshop in Baucau city from 13-15 July.

AMR Codex Texts (ACT) project now has a coordinator in Pakistan

FAO mission assesses ability of labs to detect AMR in food and agriculture in Mongolia
As part of the new AMR Codex Texts (ACT) project, laboratory experts from FAO led a mission in June 2022 to assess the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance system in Mongolia. In addition, the mission also engaged stakeholders from the food and agriculture sectors to raise their awareness of foodborne AMR.

New Codex AMR project covered on Mongolian TV news
Mongolia is one of the first countries to start assessing their national antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance system in the food and agriculture sectors. This is part of the new AMR Codex Texts (ACT) project. The project was highlighted on three national TV networks as prime-time news.

WHO Maldives conducted a Virtual Run
WHO Maldives supported the Maldives Food and Drug Authority to conduct a Virtual Run to raise awareness on Food Safety and Physical Activity on the occasion of World Food Safety Day 2022.
