This publication—developed by FAO, SEI, The Nature Conservancy and Conservation International—synthesizes the latest science on how forests and trees regulate climate, water and ecosystem functions that directly underpin agricultural performance.
The status of Mediterranean forests 2025

Forests and wooded lands cover 28 percent of the Mediterranean region. Forest area within Mediterranean countries grew by 12 percent between 1990 and 2020, but gains have slowed and requires enhanced sustainable forest management.
