La Niña conditions emerged in September 2025 and are projected to continue into early 2026, heightening the risk of extreme weather events that could damage crops and worsen local food security conditions. Dry weather conditions are forecast in parts of East Africa, Central Asia, the Near East and southern parts of South America. In Central America, Southern Africa and Southeast Asia, above-average rainfall amounts are expected.
