FAO and the Russian Federation contribute to this effort by providing programmatic support, technical expertise and access to global knowledge. This has been possible thanks to a $1.5 million climate-smart agriculture initiative in the Fergana Valley – the two-year regional South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) project currently implemented by FAO with funding from the Russian Federation channeled through the UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC). 

For generations, traditional knowledge of Indigenous Peoples has been shaping unique ways of interacting with land, water, forests, and wildlife, helping communities conserve natural resources and adapt to environmental changes. Today, in the context of climate change, biodiversity loss, and food system transformation, this experience is becoming especially important.
