Planted forests are set to become a more significant form of forestry development over the coming decades. During 2005-2010 the area of planted forests in the world expanded each year by about 5 million hectares on avearage. Given this trend a further rise of the planted forest area up to 300 million hectares can be anticipated in the near future.
