Meet the WFC competition winners!
Forest change-maker competition
The WFC forest change-maker competition launched on 29 October 2021. It invited young people between the ages of 18–35 to showcase the activities they are involved in that have a positive impact on both forest ecosystems and their community.
Of the many valuable and inspiring stories, a six-member jury with experiences cutting across youth engagement, capacity building, communication, forestry and land use, selected the top six finalists and three winners.

The final three winners are:
- Smart tree planting, by Otuo-Akyampong Boakye, Ghana
- Recovery of the lowland forests of central Argentina – Monte Alegre Project, by Analí Bustos, Argentina
- Restoring the lost dominion, by Ndisha Mwanjala, Kenya
Blog competition
The WFC blog competition launched on 08 February 2022. It invited those interested in raising awareness and engagement in building a green, healthy, and resilient future with forests to submit blogs relevant to at least one of the six WFC sub-themes.
After receiving over 100 entries and following a rigorous selection and evaluation process that included reader appreciation and a 5-member jury with experiences cutting across forest, science policy, practice and communication, the top 10 entries were selected, and the final three winners ranked.
