A new federation representing timber producers in Mozambique has launched last week thanks to a project supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to improve forest governance by strengthening private sector representation.

With every new forest fire or flood, and with every new report on the loss of wildlife or increase in desertification, we are reminded that we urgently need greater attention and efforts to conserve and sustainably manage the world’s forests.

FAO, the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) and the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) today launched a comprehensive survey on forest education across the world.
