CODEX COMMITTEE ON FOOD ADDITIVES (CCFA)

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, CCFA was postponed from March 2020 to September 2021.
The 52nd session will now be held virtually from 1 to 10 September 2021, at the kind invitation of the Government of China.

The opening session will begin at 11:00 hours CET on Wednesday 1 September 2021.
Sessions will take place on 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7 September from 11:00 to 14:00 hours CET.
The adoption of the Report will take place on Friday 10 September 2021 from 11:00 to 14:00 hours CET.

The Session will be conducted in Chinese, English, French and Spanish.


GUIDANCE FOR PARTICIPANTS TO VIRTUAL SESSIONS OF CODEX SUBSIDIARY BODY MEETINGS

The Codex Secretariat has prepared a guidance for Members and Observers to facilitate the smooth running of CCFA52.
This guidance is available in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese and Russian.


WORKING GROUPS MEETINGS

The working group on GSFA/Alignment/Endorsement/Note 161 met virtually from 21 to 25 June from 11:00 to 14:00 CET. (English only)

    • The General Standard for Food Additives, Monday 21 June to Wednesday 23 June from 11:00 to 14:00 hours CET;
    • Alignment of the food additive provisions, Thursday 24 June from 11:00 to 14:00 hours CET;
    • Endorsement of the food additive provisions, Friday 25 June from 11:00 to 12:00 hours CET; and
    • Note 161 - Provisions for sweeteners, Friday 25 June from 12:00 to 14:00 hours CET.

PRE-SESSION MEETING



A pre-session meeting, which also will address first-time participants, will be organized on Tuesday 31 August 2021 from 11:00 to 12:30 hours CET.

Working Documents made available during 2020 to aid the further work of EWGs and lead countries are available here in English, French and Spanish.

Updated documents will be published in English, French and Spanish as soon as they become available.

Please note there are some discrepancies between Table 3 as presented in CXS 192-1995 and Table 3 as presented in of FA/52 INF/01. In order to assist in understanding the changes to Table 3 presented in the revised approach and discussed in CX/FA 21/52/13, CXS 192-1995 presents Table 3 in the revised approach and FA/52 INF/01 presents Table 3 in the old approach.

ONLINE PRE-REGISTRATION

All participants should provide their information (names and addresses) through the Online Registration System by accessing the link below, latest by 1 August 2021. For those participants who will attend the above mentioned working group meetings and the pre-session meeting, registration should be done before 15 June 2021.

Register for the working groups and pre-session meeting by selecting the events of interest when you register for CCFA52.
