Codex establishes and maintains a database which contains Codex Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides and Extraneous Maximum Residue Limits adopted by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.

Today one of the Codex Alimentarius parent organisations, WHO, celebrates World Health Day on the theme of food safety.
New data in the initial findings from WHO’s Foodborne Disease Burden Epidemiology Reference Group (FERG) released just last week underline the harm caused by foodborne illnesses and the global threat posed by unsafe foods.

This week two bodies: the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) Committee and the Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) Working Group are meeting in Geneva.
The STDF grew out of a joint communiqué issued by the Heads of FAO, OIE, World Bank, WHO and WTO at the Doha Ministerial Conference in November 2001.
