“非洲协调委员会”由食品法典委员会于 1972 年建立,其任务是“在制定与非洲地区相关的标准时进行一般协调”。该委员会于 1974 年在粮农组织(FAO)举行了第一次会议,有 19 个国家出席这次会议。
随着新区域协调员开始其任期,在非州大陆开放贸易之际,2020 年 5 月生效的《非洲大陆自由贸易区协议》(AfCFTA)在整个非州大陆加强了对管理卫生和植物检疫措施(尤其是食品安全)的高效系统的需求。
区域协调员设在乌干达国家标准局,这是贸易、工业和合作部下属的法定机构,作为其使命的一部分,负责监督标准的推广和使用。
作为区域协调员,乌干达计划通过调查、网络研讨会和讲习班的形式与各国密切合作,以确定需求和新出现的问题,提高对优先食品安全问题和法典标准的认识。一项试点研究还将从更广泛的角度探讨整个地区的食品安全状况。通过加强与非州联盟、非洲标准化组织和非洲大陆自由贸易区秘书处等区域机构的接触,乌干达还希望加强该地区的宣传工作。

National training drives effective participation of Rwanda in Codex

From 10 to 13 November 2025, the Rwanda Standards Board (RSB), in the capacities of Rwanda’s Codex Contact Point, held a training workshop for members of the National Codex Committee (NCC) with support from TradeMark Africa. World Food Safety Day / Ghana celebrates
Ghana joined the rest of the world to celebrate the World Food Safety Day on the 18 June 2025, with a symposium. African delegates boost skills in Codex engagement and negotiations at BTSF training in Nairobi
Nairobi, Kenya, 3 October 2025 – Delegates from across Africa gathered in Nairobi for an intensive three-day workshop to sharpen their skills in participating in all aspects of Codex work. Organized under the European Union’s Better Training for Safer Food (BTSF) initiative, the training equipped participants with practical tools to strengthen their voices in international food safety debates.

CTF / Two South Sudanese workshops address food safety challenges and national Codex structures
In an effort to create awareness among the high-level decision and policy makers in the country, the Republic of South Sudan organized a National Workshop on Advocacy and dissemination of food safety policy briefs on 23 September 2025. CTF / Burkina Faso country story reveals significant impact from Trust Fund project

The National Workshop on Advocacy and Dissemination of Food Safety Policy Briefs to high level policy and decision makers was held on 14 August 2025 in Dodoma, Tanzania, with support from the FAO/WHO Codex Trust Fund group project.
